Integrated Family Violence Services (Hume Region)
Working together to achieve integration
The Family Violence Service Reform process began in July 2006 and was to be introduced over a four year period throughout the state of Victoria. The Department of Human Services released a document in 2006 titled “Guiding Integration Family Violence Service Reforms 2006-2009”, which provides direction on the implementation process.
The Integrated Family Violence reform aims include:
- Reduce deaths, injuries and the emotional impact of family violence.
- Respond more effectively to all women and children experiencing family violence.
- Strengthen the response of the police and the courts to family violence.
- Increase the accountability of and access to behaviour change programs for men who use violence.
- Emphasise the rights, needs and safety of children.
- Provide greater support to all workers who deal with victims of family violence.
- Bring the issue of family violence into the open and give all members of the community the confidence to speak out against family violence.
